"The Existence"
Ho Chi Minh City (VNA) - The exhibition "The Existence" of Nguyên Minh Nam, artist from Hanoi, will be inaugurated on November 23 at the Craig Thomas Gallery, at No27i rue Trân Nhât Duât in the 1st district, Hô Chi Minh-City.
With the latest collection "Existence", Nguyên Minh Nam continues to explore and develop his own aesthetic when he delves deeper into his passions such as the beauty of the female body, traditional architecture and, above all, change. constant role of women in Vietnamese society as well as in this collection. About the title “The Existence” for his exhibition, Nam revealed, “I want to mention what has been and is, has an influence, including the soul”.
Nam does not represent women by comparing them to inanimate objects. These women have their own thoughts, their own sensibilities, their fragility, their anxiety and their sadness, but they are also full of self-confidence, provocative and alluring. The faces depicted have intricate interwoven expressions and are not just charming girls or lovers. The women in Nam's paintings are liberated women, expressing themselves freely, separated from the shackles imposed by the viewer and contemporary society.
Nguyên Minh Nam reflects the process of cultural history after a period of careful observation. Over the past twenty years, Vietnam has experienced a strong economic transformation and has become one of the most impressive growing countries. The younger generation grows up in peace, which gives them advantages that the older generations did not enjoy.
"I want to portray traditional and modern cultural conflicts," says the artist. At the same time, the painter stressed that he did not want to criticize the past or the present, but to reflect the decadence in which the younger generations are evolving.
“The message I want to send is to remember the tradition and cherish the previous generation, to respect the concepts and thoughts of the past, even as the world is changing rapidly.”
